Improving accessibility to the homes of 22 elderly women who are beneficiaries of the Senara Foundation. This is the task that is going to be carried out thanks to the aid received by Leroy Merlin in its first call for applications for the ‘Dignified Homes’ initiative. Through this programme, launched by the French company, 14 Spanish organisations will receive a total of 350,000 euros to renovate social spaces and improve the equipment in the homes of people in vulnerable situations.

The improvement of accessibility to the building where the beneficiaries of Fundación Senara live will be achieved thanks to the refurbishment of the communal lift. This will facilitate access to the facilities and will make it easier for the users to leave the house safely and without limitations.

The Senara Foundation has been developing projects focused on the elderly for more than two decades. On the one hand, activities have been developed to bring new technologies closer to the elderly and to teach them how to use them responsibly. On the other hand, initiatives have been carried out to reduce the social isolation of the elderly, which was more pronounced during the Covid19 pandemic. Thanks to the 5,000 euros contributed by Leroy Merlin, the organisation will be able to continue working for the people who need it most.

If we wanted to regain purity in our relationships, wouldn’t we look to a child? They make friends without prejudice. They do not look at the country of origin of other children, nor at their different accents or customs. They see beyond borders. But in order for them to continue to carry that vision to the rest of the world as adults, they need to be educated from a young age in an environment that prevents hatred, xenophobia and violence. Today, September 9th, which is the International Day for the Protection of Education from Attack (thanks to an official decree established by the UN last year), we remember that this is the purpose of our project ‘Together we are more’.

Through it, throughout this 2021, we want to promote an inclusive climate in schools, something that would be impossible without guaranteeing children and young people around the world a safe environment, allowing them to interact in freedom and serenity, and to acquire a comprehensive education.

That is why we face the beginning of the school year with new awareness workshops through which we show the richness of interculturality, which means adding the best of each person and their different origins and experiences.

Nothing like their example. Like the friendship between Alex and Yéscar, which they tell us in this video:

What are the technological interests of young people in Europe? What social networks do they use and what applications do they lack on their mobiles? What is the use they make of the Internet? In order to answer these questions and to understand how one can work internationally to promote a responsible use of New Technologies, the ‘E-Inclusion through Youth’ project was born. This mobility of workers in the field of youth consists of two phases: a local event, with exhibitions by the young people themselves on their uses and interests, and an international meeting.

Next weekend of June 4, a mobility event will take place in Madrid in which youth workers from the 12 partner entities, from 11 European countries, will participate. Spain is participating in this project as the coordinating country, along with Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovenia, Estonia, Croatia and Poland.

The main objective is to promote inter-generational dialogue, between young people and youth workers, by bringing their concerns closer to professionals in the project countries. In addition, it is intended to improve the digital knowledge of workers in this field, for this reason a conference about New Technologies and how to promote their responsible use among young people will be addressed.

EThis project adds to the commitment that Fundación Senara has made for projects at the European level. In 2017 it carried out ‘Welcome to Europe’, a strategic partnership with Hungary, Greece, the Czech Republic, which pursued the objective of sensitizing young people about the refugee situation by turning young people into leaders of these campaigns.

Likewise, in 2019, the Senara Foundation coordinated a project with Slovenia, Estonia and Croatia called ‘Oratory for the Leadership Adventure’ based on the empowerment of young European women through the use of public speaking. More than a hundred young people benefited from this new work methodology.

Con E-Inclusion, an international way of working will be promoted based on the experience of the young people themselves in order to respond to their specific needs according to their country of origin and offer quality experiences in this field. We will tell you the conclusions of each country!

Fundación Senara and the volunteers of the Hiedra 3G project have organized the 1st Cooking Contest, an initiative open to everyone in which the best culinary proposals were recognized. This edition has been developed online, due to the current covid19 pandemic. Throughout the month of March, a multitude of dishes and desserts have been received from people interested in competing for the best creation. Participation has been very high and dishes have been received from different parts of Spain. Candidates had to send an explanatory video with their proposal, presenting the ingredients and the method of preparation.

Lhe winners in each category have been awarded a set of professional SwissTouchSwitzerland brand knives and also, by decision of the jury, a diploma has been awarded to the third highest valued participant.

We hope that all participants had fun and enjoyed their dishes very much!

Ehe effort has its rewards and our students have already successfully completed and delivered the Butcher Shop-Delicatessen Clerk course, a training organized by Fundación Senara through the Formin project, aimed at third-country nationals actively seeking employment. . A total of 13 people, 9 women and 4 men have participated in this activity.

EThis course has consisted of 100 theoretical / practical hours distributed between classroom training at the headquarters in Usera and the facilities of the prestigious Freshco School of Commerce and Food.

Thanks to this course, our students learned about the classification of different types of meat; raw materials; what is necessary for the production of meat products; the handling and exquisite cleaning of equipment and work elements, as well as packaging and delicatessen.

A very complete training, focused on improving job search possibilities, in a sector with high demand, both in department stores and in small local businesses.

How many times have we felt insecure with our CV? How many times have we been dismissed for a job because our CV is not well designed or does not have the correct information? In Fundación Senara’s employment area we work with individualized insertion itineraries adapted to the needs of each user. It depends on your Curriculum Vitae that they notice you, that they consider that you can choose the job offered or that you are not one more in that pile that does not even get to be read. Knowing how to design and fill out a CV is an art to master, essential when looking for a job.

Last Tuesday, a CV design and job search workshop was held on Internet portals at the Usera headquarters, framed within the Making the Future Possible-HPF project.

En nowadays, the job search relies heavily on different professional platforms, such as Infojobs or LinkedIn. Through this workshop, the students also received keys to make their candidacy more attractive on these platforms, and thus achieve their ultimate goal, to find a job. Both our expert Cristina and the girls who attended the workshop left the workshop very satisfied and, above all, with renewed illusions.

This workshop is part of the training actions of the HPF project, financed by Fundación laCaixa and the Community of Madrid through the call with a charge of 0.7% of personal income tax.

Hate is embedded in today’s society. Violent actions and comments are increasingly recorded, generated by discriminatory racist and / or xenophobic reasons. At Fundación Senara we carry out the project ‘Together @ s we are more’ in order to promote intercultural coexistence and awareness in the school environment to promote an inclusive and tolerant climate, free of hate crimes. A program implemented thanks to funding from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration and the Asylum, Migration and Integration Funds.

For this reason, for a few months we have been carrying out an analysis on the perception of minors about hatred, racism and xenophobia and a study with teachers on what are the most common stereotypes and hateful actions in Madrid schools. In order to facilitate the access and the carrying out of these surveys, we make available to the participating centers the links to carry them out:

MINOR SURVEY (PRIMARY)

MINOR SURVEY (SECONDARY)

TEACHER SURVEY

Once the established sample of participants has been collected, we will publish a report with the results. In addition, in order to sensitize all the students, a visual exhibition will be located in the participating educational centers. Always showing the richness of interculturality and that # Junt @ ssomosmás

The COVID19 pandemic has significantly affected the labor market; Only after the decree of the State of Alarm in March 2020, 900,000 jobs were destroyed. One year later, there are still 401,000 more unemployed and 743,628 people are still in ERTE, not forgetting the 470,000 self-employed workers who have stopped working.

In the month of March, 18.9 million contributors were registered, a figure that is still far from reaching the employment levels prior to the start of the health crisis. At Fundación Senara we continue to develop projects aimed at improving the employability of people actively seeking employment who are in a vulnerable situation. Through ‘Making the Future Possible’, a program financed by the “la Caixa” Foundation and the Community of Madrid -convocated by irpf-, socio-labor insertion itineraries are carried out adapted to the needs of each user. In addition, training courses with professional practices in companies are included.
