Senara Foundation, awarded in Leroy Merlin’s ‘Dignified Homes’ competition
Improving accessibility to the homes of 22 elderly women who are beneficiaries of the Senara Foundation. This is the task that is going to be carried out thanks to the aid received by Leroy Merlin in its first call for applications for the ‘Dignified Homes’ initiative. Through this programme, launched by the French company, 14 Spanish organisations will receive a total of 350,000 euros to renovate social spaces and improve the equipment in the homes of people in vulnerable situations.
The improvement of accessibility to the building where the beneficiaries of Fundación Senara live will be achieved thanks to the refurbishment of the communal lift. This will facilitate access to the facilities and will make it easier for the users to leave the house safely and without limitations.
The Senara Foundation has been developing projects focused on the elderly for more than two decades. On the one hand, activities have been developed to bring new technologies closer to the elderly and to teach them how to use them responsibly. On the other hand, initiatives have been carried out to reduce the social isolation of the elderly, which was more pronounced during the Covid19 pandemic. Thanks to the 5,000 euros contributed by Leroy Merlin, the organisation will be able to continue working for the people who need it most.
